Turbulent maps and their ω-limit sets

F. Balibrea, C. La Paz (1997)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

Similarity:

One-dimensional turbulent maps can be characterized via their ω-limit sets [1]. We give a direct proof of this characterization and get stronger results, which allows us to obtain some other results on ω-limit sets, which previously were difficult to prove.

Multi-invertible maps and their applications

Mirosław Ślosarski (2019)

Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

In this article, we define multi-invertible, multivalued maps. These mappings are a natural generalization of r-maps (in particular, the singlevalued invertible maps). They have many interesting properties and applications. In this article, the multi-invertible maps are applied to the construction of morphisms and to the theory of coincidence.

Fixed points of set-valued maps with closed proximally ∞-connected values

Grzegorz Gabor (1995)

Discussiones Mathematicae, Differential Inclusions, Control and Optimization

Similarity:

Introduction Many authors have developed the topological degree theory and the fixed point theory for set-valued maps using homological techniques (see for example [19, 28, 27, 16]). Lately, an elementary technique of single-valued approximation (on the graph) (see [11, 1, 13, 5, 9, 2, 6, 7]) has been used in constructing the fixed point index for set-valued maps with compact values (see [21, 20, 4]). In [20, 4] authors consider set-valued...

On the structure of positive maps between matrix algebras

Władysław A. Majewski, Marcin Marciniak (2007)

Banach Center Publications

Similarity:

The structure of the set of positive unital maps between M₂(ℂ) and Mₙ(ℂ) (n ≥ 3) is investigated. We proceed with the study of the "quantized" Choi matrix thus extending the methods of our previous paper [MM2]. In particular, we examine the quantized version of Størmer's extremality condition. Maps fulfilling this condition are characterized. To illustrate our approach, a careful analysis of Tang's maps is given.

Efficient generation of 3D surfel maps using RGB-D sensors

Artur Wilkowski, Tomasz Kornuta, Maciej Stefańczyk, Włodzimierz Kasprzak (2016)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

The article focuses on the problem of building dense 3D occupancy maps using commercial RGB-D sensors and the SLAM approach. In particular, it addresses the problem of 3D map representations, which must be able both to store millions of points and to offer efficient update mechanisms. The proposed solution consists of two such key elements, visual odometry and surfel-based mapping, but it contains substantial improvements: storing the surfel maps in octree form and utilizing a frustum...

Realization of fixed point sets of relative maps

Moo Ha Woo, Xuezhi Zhao (2011)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

Given a relative map f: (X,A) → (X,A) on a pair (X,A) of compact polyhedra and a closed subset Y of X, we shall give some criteria for Y to be the fixed point set of some map relatively homotopic to f.

Averaging operators and set-valued maps

Valov, Vesko (2014)

Mathematica Balkanica New Series

Similarity:

MSC 2010: 54C35, 54C60. We investigate maps admitting, in general, non-linear averaging operators. Characterizations of maps admitting a normed, weakly additive averaging operator which preserves max (resp., min) and weakly preserves min (resp., max) is obtained. We also describe set-valued maps into completely metrizable spaces admitting lower semi-continuous selections. As a corollary, we obtain a description of surjective maps with a metrizable kernel and complete fibers...

Finite-to-one maps and dimension

Jerzy Krzempek (2004)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

It is shown that for every at most k-to-one closed continuous map f from a non-empty n-dimensional metric space X, there exists a closed continuous map g from a zero-dimensional metric space onto X such that the composition f∘g is an at most (n+k)-to-one map. This implies that f is a composition of n+k-1 simple ( = at most two-to-one) closed continuous maps. Stronger conclusions are obtained for maps from Anderson-Choquet spaces and ones that satisfy W. Hurewicz's condition (α). The...

Topological and approximation methods of degree theory of set-valued maps

Wojciech Kryszewski

Similarity:

SummaryThe theory of topological degree of set-valued maps determined by morphisms, i.e. maps with values which are continuous images of almost acyclic sets, is presented, together with some of its applications. In the first part, morphisms defined on finite-dimensional Euclidean manifolds are considered and the integer-valued degree is introduced by means of the Eilenberg-Montgomery-Górniewicz method based on the Vietoris-Begle-Sklyarenko theorem and using the approach of Dold in terms...

Perturbations of flexible Lattès maps

Xavier Buff, Thomas Gauthier (2013)

Bulletin de la Société Mathématique de France

Similarity:

We prove that any Lattès map can be approximated by strictly postcritically finite rational maps which are not Lattès maps.
