The direct and inverse problem for sub-diffusion equations with a generalized impedance subregion

Isaac Harris — 2022

Applications of Mathematics

In this paper, we consider the direct and inverse problem for time-fractional diffusion in a domain with an impenetrable subregion. Here we assume that on the boundary of the subregion the solution satisfies a generalized impedance boundary condition. This boundary condition is given by a second order spatial differential operator imposed on the boundary. A generalized impedance boundary condition can be used to model corrosion and delimitation. The well-posedness for the direct problem is established...

Theoretical foundation of the weighted Laplace inpainting problem

Laurent HoeltgenAndreas KleefeldIsaac HarrisMichael Breuss — 2019

Applications of Mathematics

Laplace interpolation is a popular approach in image inpainting using partial differential equations. The classic approach considers the Laplace equation with mixed boundary conditions. Recently a more general formulation has been proposed, where the differential operator consists of a point-wise convex combination of the Laplacian and the known image data. We provide the first detailed analysis on existence and uniqueness of solutions for the arising mixed boundary value problem. Our approach considers...
