A simple approach to functional inequalities for non-local Dirichlet forms

Jian Wang — 2014

ESAIM: Probability and Statistics

With direct and simple proofs, we establish Poincaré type inequalities (including Poincaré inequalities, weak Poincaré inequalities and super Poincaré inequalities), entropy inequalities and Beckner-type inequalities for non-local Dirichlet forms. The proofs are efficient for non-local Dirichlet forms with general jump kernel, and also work for (> 1) settings. Our results yield a new sufficient condition for fractional Poincaré inequalities, which were recently studied in...

On the coupling property of Lévy processes

René L. SchillingJian Wang — 2011

Annales de l'I.H.P. Probabilités et statistiques

We give necessary and sufficient conditions guaranteeing that the coupling for Lévy processes (with non-degenerate jump part) is successful. Our method relies on explicit formulae for the transition semigroup of a compound Poisson process and earlier results by Mineka and Lindvall–Rogers on couplings of random walks. In particular, we obtain that a Lévy process admits a successful coupling, if it is a strong Feller process or if the Lévy (jump) measure has an absolutely continuous component.

Un algorithme de partition d'un produit direct d'ordres totaux en un nombre minimum de chaînes

Emmanuel PichonPhilippe LencaFabrice GuilletJian Wei Wang — 1994

Vector-valued Choquet-Deny theorem, renewal equation and self-similar measures

Ka-Sing LauJian-Rong WangCho-Ho Chu — 1995

Studia Mathematica

The Choquet-Deny theorem and Deny’s theorem are extended to the vector-valued case. They are applied to give a simple nonprobabilistic proof of the vector-valued renewal theorem, which is used to study the L p -dimension, the L p -density and the Fourier transformation of vector-valued self-similar measures. The results answer some questions raised by Strichartz.

Synchronization with error bound of non-identical forced oscillators

Jian Gen WangJianping CaiMihua MaJiuchao Feng — 2008

Kybernetika

Synchronization with error bound of two non-identical forced oscillators is studied in the paper. By introducing two auxiliary autonomous systems, differential inequality technique and active control technique are used to deal with the synchronization of two non-identical forced oscillators with parameter mismatch in external harmonic excitations. Numerical simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
