Arakelov computations in genus 3 curves

Jordi Guàrdia — 2001

Journal de théorie des nombres de Bordeaux

Arakelov invariants of arithmetic surfaces are well known for genus 1 and 2 ([4], [2]). In this note, we study the modular height and the Arakelov self-intersection for a family of curves of genus 3 with many automorphisms: C n : Y 4 = X 4 - ( 4 n - 2 ) X 2 Z 2 + Z 4 . Arakelov calculus involves both analytic and arithmetic computations. We express the periods of the curve C n in terms of elliptic integrals. The substitutions used in these integrals provide a splitting of the jacobian of C n as a product of three elliptic...

Thetanullwerte: from periods to good equations.

Jordi Guàrdia — 2007

Publicacions Matemàtiques

We will show the utility of the classical Jacobi Thetanullwerte for the description of certain period lattices of elliptic curves, providing equations with good arithmetical properties. These equations will be the starting point for the construction of families of elliptic curves with everywhere good reduction. [Proceedings of the Primeras Jornadas de Teoría de Números (Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona), 30 June - 2 July 2005)].

On equations defining fake elliptic curves

Pilar BayerJordi Guàrdia — 2005

Journal de Théorie des Nombres de Bordeaux

Shimura curves associated to rational nonsplit quaternion algebras are coarse moduli spaces for principally polarized abelian surfaces endowed with quaternionic multiplication. These objects are also known as . We present a method for computing equations for genus 2 curves whose Jacobian is a fake elliptic curve with complex multiplication. The method is based on the explicit knowledge of the normalized period matrices and on the use of theta functions with characteristics. As in the case of CM-points...
