On some classes of spaces with the D -property

Juan Carlos Martínez — 2014

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

We shall prove that under CH every regular meta-Lindelöf P -space which is locally D has the D -property. In addition, we shall prove that a regular submeta-Lindelöf P -space is D if it is locally D and has locally extent at most ω 1 . Moreover, these results can be extended from the class of locally D -spaces to the wider class of 𝔻 -scattered spaces. Also, we shall give a direct proof (without using topological games) of the result shown by Peng [On spaces which are D, linearly D and transitively D, Topology...

Exponential stability of a flexible structure with history and thermal effect

Roberto DíazJaime MuñozCarlos MartínezOctavio Vera — 2020

Applications of Mathematics

In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of a system composed of an integro-partial differential equation that models the longitudinal oscillation of a beam with a memory effect to which a thermal effect has been given by the Green-Naghdi model type III, being physically more accurate than the Fourier and Cattaneo models. To achieve this goal, we will use arguments from spectral theory, considering a suitable hypothesis of smoothness on the integro-partial differential equation.

Reliability-based economic model predictive control for generalised flow-based networks including actuators' health-aware capabilities

Juan M. GrossoCarlos Ocampo-MartinezVicenç Puig — 2016

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

This paper proposes a reliability-based economic model predictive control (MPC) strategy for the management of generalised flow-based networks, integrating some ideas on network service reliability, dynamic safety stock planning, and degradation of equipment health. The proposed strategy is based on a single-layer economic optimisation problem with dynamic constraints, which includes two enhancements with respect to existing approaches. The first enhancement considers chance-constraint programming...

Robust MPC for actuator-fault tolerance using set-based passive fault detection and active fault isolation

Feng XuVicenç PuigCarlos Ocampo-MartinezSorin OlaruSilviu-Iulian Niculescu — 2017

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

In this paper, a fault-tolerant control (FTC) scheme is proposed for actuator faults, which is built upon tube-based model predictive control (MPC) as well as set-based fault detection and isolation (FDI). In the class of MPC techniques, tubebased MPC can effectively deal with system constraints and uncertainties with relatively low computational complexity compared with other robust MPC techniques such as min-max MPC. Set-based FDI, generally considering the worst case of uncertainties, can robustly...
