It is shown that every monocompact submeasure on an orthomodular poset is order continuous. From this generalization of the classical Marczewski Theorem, several results of commutative Measure Theory are derived and unified.
We present a general decomposition theorem for a positive inner regular finitely additive measure on an orthoalgebra L with values in an ordered topological group G, not necessarily commutative. In the case where L is a Boolean algebra, we establish the uniqueness of such a decomposition. With mild extra hypotheses on G, we extend this Boolean decomposition, preserving the uniqueness, to the case where the measure is order bounded instead of being positive. In quest'articolo è analizzato il romanzo dello scrittore italo-americano Don DeLillo, situandolo nell'ambito dell'immigrazione europea della costa est e mettendo in evidenza le relazioni fra l'eredità italiana e i contributi della realtà americana. Si confronta poi la visione letteraria della matematica di Don DeLillo con quella di matematici “reali” come De Giorgi e Volterra.
