Existence of solutions to the (rot,div)-system in L p -weighted spaces

Wojciech M. Zajączkowski (2010)

Applicationes Mathematicae

The existence of solutions to the elliptic problem rot v = w, div v = 0 in a bounded domain Ω ⊂ ℝ³, v · n ̅ | S = 0 , S = ∂Ω in weighted L p -Sobolev spaces is proved. It is assumed that an axis L crosses Ω and the weight is a negative power function of the distance to the axis. The main part of the proof is devoted to examining solutions of the problem in a neighbourhood of L. The existence in Ω follows from the technique of regularization.

Generalized RBSDEs with Random Terminal Time and Applications to PDEs

Katarzyna Jańczak-Borkowska (2011)

Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Mathematics

Generalized reflected backward stochastic differential equations have been considered so far only in the case of a deterministic interval. In this paper the existence and uniqueness of solution for generalized reflected backward stochastic differential equations in a convex domain with random terminal time is studied. Applications to the obstacle problem with Neumann boundary conditions for partial differential equations of elliptic type are given.

Infinitely many solutions for asymptotically linear periodic Hamiltonian elliptic systems

Fukun Zhao, Leiga Zhao, Yanheng Ding (2010)

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

This paper is concerned with the following periodic Hamiltonian elliptic system { - Δ ϕ + V ( x ) ϕ = G ψ ( x , ϕ , ψ ) in N , - Δ ψ + V ( x ) ψ = G ϕ ( x , ϕ , ψ ) in N , ϕ ( x ) 0 and ψ ( x ) 0 as | x | . Assuming the potential V is periodic and 0 lies in a gap of σ ( - Δ + V ) , G ( x , η ) is periodic in x and asymptotically quadratic in η = ( ϕ , ψ ) , existence and multiplicity of solutions are obtained via variational approach.

Periodic solutions of a three-species periodic reaction-diffusion system

Tiantian Qiao, Jiebao Sun, Boying Wu (2011)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

We study a periodic reaction-diffusion system of a competitive model with Dirichlet boundary conditions. By the method of upper and lower solutions and an argument similar to that of Ahmad and Lazer, we establish the existence of periodic solutions and also investigate the stability and global attractivity of positive periodic solutions under certain conditions.

Quadratic finite elements with non-matching grids for the unilateral boundary contact

S. Auliac, Z. Belhachmi, F. Ben Belgacem, F. Hecht (2013)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis - Modélisation Mathématique et Analyse Numérique

We analyze a numerical model for the Signorini unilateral contact, based on the mortar method, in the quadratic finite element context. The mortar frame enables one to use non-matching grids and brings facilities in the mesh generation of different components of a complex system. The convergence rates we state here are similar to those already obtained for the Signorini problem when discretized on conforming meshes. The matching for the unilateral contact driven by mortars preserves then the proper...

The interface crack with Coulomb friction between two bonded dissimilar elastic media

Hiromichi Itou, Victor A. Kovtunenko, Atusi Tani (2011)

Applications of Mathematics

We study a model of interfacial crack between two bonded dissimilar linearized elastic media. The Coulomb friction law and non-penetration condition are assumed to hold on the whole crack surface. We define a weak formulation of the problem in the primal form and get the equivalent primal-dual formulation. Then we state the existence theorem of the solution. Further, by means of Goursat-Kolosov-Muskhelishvili stress functions we derive convergent expansions of the solution near the crack tip.
