Contracting-on-Average Baker Maps

Michał Rams (2006)

Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Mathematics

We estimate from above and below the Hausdorff dimension of SRB measure for contracting-on-average baker maps.

Decay of correlations for nonuniformly expanding systems

Sébastien Gouëzel (2006)

Bulletin de la Société Mathématique de France

We estimate the speed of decay of correlations for general nonuniformly expanding dynamical systems, using estimates on the time the system takes to become really expanding. Our method can deal with fast decays, such as exponential or stretched exponential. We prove in particular that the correlations of the Alves-Viana map decay in O ( e - c n ) .

Dimension of weakly expanding points for quadratic maps

Samuel Senti (2003)

Bulletin de la Société Mathématique de France

For the real quadratic map P a ( x ) = x 2 + a and a given ϵ > 0 a point x has good expansion properties if any interval containing x also contains a neighborhood  J of x with P a n | J univalent, with bounded distortion and B ( 0 , ϵ ) P a n ( J ) for some n . The ϵ -weakly expanding set is the set of points which do not have good expansion properties. Let α denote the negative fixed point and M the first return time of the critical orbit to [ α , - α ] . We show there is a set of parameters with positive Lebesgue measure for which the Hausdorff dimension of...

Equilibrium states for interval maps: the potential - t log | D f |

Henk Bruin, Mike Todd (2009)

Annales scientifiques de l'École Normale Supérieure

Let f : I I be a C 2 multimodal interval map satisfying polynomial growth of the derivatives along critical orbits. We prove the existence and uniqueness of equilibrium states for the potential φ t : x - t log | D f ( x ) | for t close to 1 , and also that the pressure function t P ( φ t ) is analytic on an appropriate interval near t = 1 .

Ergodic theory of interval exchange maps.

Marcelo Viana (2006)

Revista Matemática Complutense

A unified introduction to the dynamics of interval exchange maps and related topics, such as the geometry of translation surfaces, renormalization operators, and Teichmüller flows, starting from the basic definitions and culminating with the proof that almost every interval exchange map is uniquely ergodic. Great emphasis is put on examples and geometric interpretations of the main ideas.

Expanding repellers in limit sets for iterations of holomorphic functions

Feliks Przytycki (2005)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

We prove that for Ω being an immediate basin of attraction to an attracting fixed point for a rational mapping of the Riemann sphere, and for an ergodic invariant measure μ on the boundary FrΩ, with positive Lyapunov exponent, there is an invariant subset of FrΩ which is an expanding repeller of Hausdorff dimension arbitrarily close to the Hausdorff dimension of μ. We also prove generalizations and a geometric coding tree abstract version. The paper is a continuation of a paper in Fund. Math. 145...

Generic linear cocycles over a minimal base

Jairo Bochi (2013)

Studia Mathematica

We prove that a generic linear cocycle over a minimal base dynamics of finite dimension has the property that the Oseledets splitting with respect to any invariant probability coincides almost everywhere with the finest dominated splitting. Therefore the restriction of the generic cocycle to a subbundle of the finest dominated splitting is uniformly subexponentially quasiconformal. This extends a previous result for SL(2,ℝ)-cocycles due to Avila and the author.

Gibbs-Markov-Young structures*, **, ***

Carla L. Dias (2012)

ESAIM: Proceedings

We discuss the geometric structures defined by Young in [9, 10], which are used to prove the existence of an ergodic absolutely continuous invariant probability measure and to study the decay of correlations in expanding or hyperbolic systems on large parts.

Invariant jets of a smooth dynamical system

Sophie Lemaire (2001)

Bulletin de la Société Mathématique de France

The local deformations of a submanifold under the effect of a smooth dynamical system are studied with the help of Oseledets’ multiplicative ergodic theorem. Equivalence classes of submanifolds, called jets, are introduced in order to describe these local deformations. They identify submanifolds having the same approximations up to some order at a given point. For every order k , a condition on the Lyapunov exponents of the dynamical system is established insuring the convergence of the k -jet of...

Linear response for smooth deformations of generic nonuniformly hyperbolic unimodal maps

Viviane Baladi, Daniel Smania (2012)

Annales scientifiques de l'École Normale Supérieure

We consider C 2 families t f t of  C 4 unimodal maps f t whose critical point is slowly recurrent, and we show that the unique absolutely continuous invariant measure μ t of  f t depends differentiably on  t , as a distribution of order 1 . The proof uses transfer operators on towers whose level boundaries are mollified via smooth cutoff functions, in order to avoid artificial discontinuities. We give a new representation of  μ t for a Benedicks-Carleson map f t , in terms of a single smooth function and the inverse branches...
