Approximation properties of bivariate complex q -Bernstein polynomials in the case q > 1

Nazim I. Mahmudov (2012)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

In the paper, we discuss convergence properties and Voronovskaja type theorem for bivariate q -Bernstein polynomials for a function analytic in the polydisc D R 1 × D R 2 = { z C : | z | < R 1 } × { z C : | z | < R 1 } for arbitrary fixed q > 1 . We give quantitative Voronovskaja type estimates for the bivariate q -Bernstein polynomials for q > 1 . In the univariate case the similar results were obtained by S. Ostrovska: q -Bernstein polynomials and their iterates. J. Approximation Theory 123 (2003), 232–255. and S. G. Gal: Approximation by Complex Bernstein and Convolution...

Approximation results for nonlinear integral operators in modular spaces and applications

Ilaria Mantellini, Gianluca Vinti (2003)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

We obtain modular convergence theorems in modular spaces for nets of operators of the form ( T w f ) ( s ) = H K w ( s - h w ( t ) , f ( h w ( t ) ) ) d μ H ( t ) , w > 0, s ∈ G, where G and H are topological groups and h w w > 0 is a family of homeomorphisms h w : H h w ( H ) G . Such operators contain, in particular, a nonlinear version of the generalized sampling operators, which have many applications in the theory of signal processing.

Bernstein-type operators on the half line

Antonio Attalienti, Michele Campiti (2002)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

We define Bernstein-type operators on the half line [ 0 , + [ by means of two sequences of strictly positive real numbers. After studying their approximation properties, we also establish a Voronovskaja-type result with respect to a suitable weighted norm.

Box-spline histograms for multivariate density estimation

Karol Dziedziul, Piotr Paluszek (2010)

Applicationes Mathematicae

The uniform approach to calculation of MISE for histogram and density box-spline estimators gives us a possibility to obtain estimators of derivatives of densities and the asymptotic constant.

Certain family of Durrmeyer type operators

Vijay Gupta (2009)

Annales UMCS, Mathematica

The present paper is a continuation of the earlier work of the author. Here we study the rate of convergence of certain Durrmeyer type operators for function having derivatives of bounded variation.

Constants of strong uniqueness of minimal norm-one projections

A. Micek (2011)

Banach Center Publications

In this paper we calculate the constants of strong uniqueness of minimal norm-one projections on subspaces of codimension k in the space l ( n ) . This generalizes a main result of W. Odyniec and M. P. Prophet [J. Approx. Theory 145 (2007), 111-121]. We applied in our proof Kolmogorov’s type theorem (see A. Wójcik [Approximation and Function Spaces (Gdańsk, 1979), PWN, Warszawa / North-Holland, Amsterdam, 1981, 854-866]) for strongly unique best approximation.
