An introduction to Rota’s universal operators: properties, old and new examples and future issues

Carl C. Cowen, Eva A. Gallardo-Gutiérrez (2016)

Concrete Operators

The Invariant Subspace Problem for Hilbert spaces is a long-standing question and the use of universal operators in the sense of Rota has been an important tool for studying such important problem. In this survey, we focus on Rota’s universal operators, pointing out their main properties and exhibiting some old and recent examples.

Berezin and Berezin-Toeplitz quantizations for general function spaces.

Miroslav Englis (2006)

Revista Matemática Complutense

The standard Berezin and Berezin-Toeplitz quantizations on a Kähler manifold are based on operator symbols and on Toeplitz operators, respectively, on weighted L2-spaces of holomorphic functions (weighted Bergman spaces). In both cases, the construction basically uses only the fact that these spaces have a reproducing kernel. We explore the possibilities of using other function spaces with reproducing kernels instead, such as L2-spaces of harmonic functions, Sobolev spaces, Sobolev spaces of holomorphic...

Bounded Toeplitz and Hankel products on weighted Bergman spaces of the unit ball

Małgorzata Michalska, Maria Nowak, Paweł Sobolewski (2010)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

We prove a sufficient condition for products of Toeplitz operators T f T , where f,g are square integrable holomorphic functions in the unit ball in ℂⁿ, to be bounded on the weighted Bergman space. This condition slightly improves the result obtained by K. Stroethoff and D. Zheng. The analogous condition for boundedness of products of Hankel operators H f H * g is also given.

Carleson measures and Toeplitz operators on small Bergman spaces on the ball

Van An Le (2021)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

We study Carleson measures and Toeplitz operators on the class of so-called small weighted Bergman spaces, introduced recently by Seip. A characterization of Carleson measures is obtained which extends Seip’s results from the unit disk of to the unit ball of n . We use this characterization to give necessary and sufficient conditions for the boundedness and compactness of Toeplitz operators. Finally, we study the Schatten p classes membership of Toeplitz operators for 1 < p < .

Commutants of certain multiplication operators on Hilbert spaces of analytic functions

K. Seddighi, S. Vaezpour (1999)

Studia Mathematica

This paper characterizes the commutant of certain multiplication operators on Hilbert spaces of analytic functions. Let A = M z be the operator of multiplication by z on the underlying Hilbert space. We give sufficient conditions for an operator essentially commuting with A and commuting with A n for some n>1 to be the operator of multiplication by an analytic symbol. This extends a result of Shields and Wallen.

Commutators based on the Calderón reproducing formula

Krzysztof Nowak (1993)

Studia Mathematica

We prove the Schatten-Lorentz ideal criteria for commutators of multiplications and projections based on the Calderón reproducing formula and the decomposition theorem for the space of symbols corresponding to commutators in the Schatten ideal.

Compact operators on the weighted Bergman space A¹(ψ)

Tao Yu (2006)

Studia Mathematica

We show that a bounded linear operator S on the weighted Bergman space A¹(ψ) is compact and the predual space A₀(φ) of A¹(ψ) is invariant under S* if and only if S k z 0 as z → ∂D, where k z is the normalized reproducing kernel of A¹(ψ). As an application, we give conditions for an operator in the Toeplitz algebra to be compact.

Complex symmetry of Toeplitz operators on the weighted Bergman spaces

Xiao-He Hu (2022)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

We give a concrete description of complex symmetric monomial Toeplitz operators T z p z ¯ q on the weighted Bergman space A 2 ( Ω ) , where Ω denotes the unit ball or the unit polydisk. We provide a necessary condition for T z p z ¯ q to be complex symmetric. When p , q 2 , we prove that T z p z ¯ q is complex symmetric on A 2 ( Ω ) if and only if p 1 = q 2 and p 2 = q 1 . Moreover, we completely characterize when monomial Toeplitz operators T z p z ¯ q on A 2 ( 𝔻 n ) are J U -symmetric with the n × n symmetric unitary matrix U .

Composition operators and the Hilbert matrix

E. Diamantopoulos, Aristomenis Siskakis (2000)

Studia Mathematica

The Hilbert matrix acts on Hardy spaces by multiplication with Taylor coefficients. We find an upper bound for the norm of the induced operator.
