Generalization of p-regularity notion and tangent cone description in the singular case

Wiesław Grzegorczyk, Beata Medak, Alexey A. Tret’yakov (2012)

Annales UMCS, Mathematica

The theory of p-regularity has approximately twenty-five years’ history and many results have been obtained up to now. The main result of this theory is description of tangent cone to zero set in singular case. However there are numerous nonlinear objects for which the p-regularity condition fails, especially for p > 2. In this paper we generalize the p-regularity notion as a starting point for more detailed consideration based on different p-factor operators constructions.

Implicit function theorem for locally blow-analytic functions

Laurentiu Paunescu (2001)

Annales de l’institut Fourier

In this paper we prove the implicit function theorem for locally blow-analytic functions, and as an interesting application of using blow-analytic homeomorphisms, we describe a very easy way to resolve singularities of analytic curves.

Implicit functions from locally convex spaces to Banach spaces

Seppo Hiltunen (1999)

Studia Mathematica

We first generalize the classical implicit function theorem of Hildebrandt and Graves to the case where we have a Keller C Π k -map f defined on an open subset of E×F and with values in F, for E an arbitrary Hausdorff locally convex space and F a Banach space. As an application, we prove that under a certain transversality condition the preimage of a submanifold is a submanifold for a map from a Fréchet manifold to a Banach manifold.

Injectivity onto a star-shaped set for local homeomorphisms in n-space

Gianluca Gorni, Gaetano Zampieri (1994)

Annales Polonici Mathematici

We provide a number of either necessary and sufficient or only sufficient conditions on a local homeomorphism defined on an open, connected subset of the n-space to be actually a homeomorphism onto a star-shaped set. The unifying idea is the existence of "auxiliary" scalar functions that enjoy special behaviours along the paths that result from lifting the half-lines that radiate from a point in the codomain space. In our main result this special behaviour is monotonicity, and the auxiliary function...

On the geometry of Goursat structures

William Pasillas-Lépine, Witold Respondek (2001)

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

A Goursat structure on a manifold of dimension n is a rank two distribution 𝒟 such that dim 𝒟 ( i ) = i + 2 , for 0 i n - 2 , where 𝒟 ( i ) denote the elements of the derived flag of 𝒟 , defined by 𝒟 ( 0 ) = 𝒟 and 𝒟 ( i + 1 ) = 𝒟 ( i ) + [ 𝒟 ( i ) , 𝒟 ( i ) ] . Goursat structures appeared first in the work of von Weber and Cartan, who have shown that on an open and dense subset they can be converted into the so-called Goursat normal form. Later, Goursat structures have been studied by Kumpera and Ruiz. In the paper, we introduce a new local invariant for Goursat structures, called...

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

A Goursat structure on a manifold of dimension n is a rank two distribution Ɗ such that dim Ɗ(i) = i + 2, for 0 ≤ i ≤ n-2, where Ɗ(i) denote the elements of the derived flag of Ɗ, defined by Ɗ(0) = Ɗ and Ɗ(i+1) = Ɗ(i) + [Ɗ(i),Ɗ(i)] . Goursat structures appeared first in the work of von Weber and Cartan, who have shown that on an open and dense subset they can be converted into the so-called Goursat normal form. Later, Goursat structures have been studied by Kumpera and Ruiz. In the paper, we introduce...
