On periodic solutions of non-autonomous second order Hamiltonian systems

Xingyong Zhang, Yinggao Zhou (2010)

Applications of Mathematics

The purpose of this paper is to study the existence of periodic solutions for the non-autonomous second order Hamiltonian system u ¨ ( t ) = F ( t , u ( t ) ) , a.e. t [ 0 , T ] , u ( 0 ) - u ( T ) = u ˙ ( 0 ) - u ˙ ( T ) = 0 . Some new existence theorems are obtained by the least action principle.

Periodic solutions for second-order Hamiltonian systems with a p -Laplacian

Xianhua Tang, Xingyong Zhang (2010)

Annales UMCS, Mathematica

In this paper, by using the least action principle, Sobolev's inequality and Wirtinger's inequality, some existence theorems are obtained for periodic solutions of second-order Hamiltonian systems with a p-Laplacian under subconvex condition, sublinear growth condition and linear growth condition. Our results generalize and improve those in the literature.

Periodic solutions for some nonautonomous p ( t ) -Laplacian Hamiltonian systems

Liang Zhang, X. H. Tang (2013)

Applications of Mathematics

In this paper, we deal with the existence of periodic solutions of the p ( t ) -Laplacian Hamiltonian system d d t ( | u ˙ ( t ) | p ( t ) - 2 u ˙ ( t ) ) = F ( t , u ( t ) ) a.e. t [ 0 , T ] , u ( 0 ) - u ( T ) = u ˙ ( 0 ) - u ˙ ( T ) = 0 . Some new existence theorems are obtained by using the least action principle and minimax methods in critical point theory, and our results generalize and improve some existence theorems.

Some geometric aspects of the calculus of variations in several independent variables

David Saunders (2010)

Communications in Mathematics

This paper describes some recent research on parametric problems in the calculus of variations. It explains the relationship between these problems and the type of problem more usual in physics, where there is a given space of independent variables, and it gives an interpretation of the first variation formula in this context in terms of cohomology.

Sur l'équation de Ginzburg-Landau avec champ magnétique

Sylvia Serfaty (1998)

Uniform estimates for the parabolic Ginzburg–Landau equation

F. Bethuel, G. Orlandi (2002)

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

We consider complex-valued solutions u ε of the Ginzburg–Landau equation on a smooth bounded simply connected domain Ω of N , N 2 , where ε > 0 is a small parameter. We assume that the Ginzburg–Landau energy E ε ( u ε ) verifies the bound (natural in the context) E ε ( u ε ) M 0 | log ε | , where M 0 is some given constant. We also make several assumptions on the boundary data. An important step in the asymptotic analysis of u ε , as ε 0 , is to establish uniform L p bounds for the gradient, for some p > 1 . We review some recent techniques developed in...

We also make several assumptions on the boundary data. An important step in the asymptotic analysis of uE, as ε → 0, is to establish uniform Lp bounds for the gradient, for some p>1. We review some...

Vortex motion and phase-vortex interaction in dissipative Ginzburg-Landau dynamics

F. Bethuel, G. Orlandi, D. Smets (2004)

Journées Équations aux dérivées partielles

We discuss the asymptotics of the parabolic Ginzburg-Landau equation in dimension N 2 . Our only asumption on the initial datum is a natural energy bound. Compared to the case of “well-prepared” initial datum, this induces possible new energy modes which we analyze, and in particular their mutual interaction. The two dimensional case is qualitatively different and requires a separate treatment.
