Dynamic portfolio optimization with risk management and strategy constraints

Csilla Krommerová, Igor Melicherčík (2014)

Kybernetika

We investigate the problem of power utility maximization considering risk management and strategy constraints. The aim of this paper is to obtain admissible dynamic portfolio strategies. In case the floor is guaranteed with probability one, we provide two admissible solutions, the option based portfolio insurance in the constrained model, and the alternative method and show that none of the solutions dominate the other. In case the floor is guaranteed partially, we provide one admissible solution,...

Elementary Introduction to Stochastic Finance in Discrete Time

Peter Jaeger (2012)

Formalized Mathematics

This article gives an elementary introduction to stochastic finance (in discrete time). A formalization of random variables is given and some elements of Borel sets are considered. Furthermore, special functions (for buying a present portfolio and the value of a portfolio in the future) and some statements about the relation between these functions are introduced. For details see: [8] (p. 185), [7] (pp. 12, 20), [6] (pp. 3-6).

Hedging of the European option in discrete time under transaction costs depending on time

Marek Andrzej Kociński (2010)

Applicationes Mathematicae

Hedging of the European option in a discrete time financial market with proportional transaction costs is considered. It is shown that for a certain class of options the set of portfolios which allow the seller to pay the claim of the buyer in quite a general discrete time market model is the same as the set of such portfolios under the assumption that the stock price movement is given by a suitable CRR model.

Incompleteness of the bond market with Lévy noise under the physical measure

Michał Barski (2015)

Banach Center Publications

The problem of completeness of the forward rate based bond market model driven by a Lévy process under the physical measure is examined. The incompleteness of market in the case when the Lévy measure has a density function is shown. The required elements of the theory of stochastic integration over the compensated jump measure under a martingale measure are presented and the corresponding integral representation of local martingales is proven.

Mean variance and goal achieving portfolio for discrete-time market with currently observable source of correlations

Nikolai Dokuchaev (2010)

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

The paper studies optimal portfolio selection for discrete time market models in mean-variance and goal achieving setting. The optimal strategies are obtained for models with an observed process that causes serial correlations of price changes. The optimal strategies are found to be myopic for the goal-achieving problem and quasi-myopic for the mean variance portfolio.

Measuring of second–order stochastic dominance portfolio efficiency

Miloš Kopa (2010)

Kybernetika

In this paper, we deal with second-order stochastic dominance (SSD) portfolio efficiency with respect to all portfolios that can be created from a considered set of assets. Assuming scenario approach for distribution of returns several SSD portfolio efficiency tests were proposed. We introduce a δ -SSD portfolio efficiency approach and we analyze the stability of SSD portfolio efficiency and δ -SSD portfolio efficiency classification with respect to changes in scenarios of returns. We propose new...

Modelling Real World Using Stochastic Processes and Filtration

Peter Jaeger (2016)

Formalized Mathematics

First we give an implementation in Mizar [2] basic important definitions of stochastic finance, i.e. filtration ([9], pp. 183 and 185), adapted stochastic process ([9], p. 185) and predictable stochastic process ([6], p. 224). Second we give some concrete formalization and verification to real world examples. In article [8] we started to define random variables for a similar presentation to the book [6]. Here we continue this study. Next we define the stochastic process. For further definitions...

On exact null controllability of Black-Scholes equation

Kumarasamy Sakthivel, Krishnan Balachandran, Rangarajan Sowrirajan, Jeong-Hoon Kim (2008)

Kybernetika

In this paper we discuss the exact null controllability of linear as well as nonlinear Black–Scholes equation when both the stock volatility and risk-free interest rate influence the stock price but they are not known with certainty while the control is distributed over a subdomain. The proof of the linear problem relies on a Carleman estimate and observability inequality for its own dual problem and that of the nonlinear one relies on the infinite dimensional Kakutani fixed point theorem with L 2 ...

On near-optimal necessary and sufficient conditions for forward-backward stochastic systems with jumps, with applications to finance

Mokhtar Hafayed, Petr Veverka, Syed Abbas (2014)

Applications of Mathematics

We establish necessary and sufficient conditions of near-optimality for nonlinear systems governed by forward-backward stochastic differential equations with controlled jump processes (FBSDEJs in short). The set of controls under consideration is necessarily convex. The proof of our result is based on Ekeland's variational principle and continuity in some sense of the state and adjoint processes with respect to the control variable. We prove that under an additional hypothesis, the near-maximum...

On the Bellman equation for asymptotics of utility from terminal wealth

Janusz Matkowski, Łukasz Stettner (2010)

Applicationes Mathematicae

The asymptotics of utility from terminal wealth is studied. First, a finite horizon problem for any utility function is considered. To study a long run infinite horizon problem, a certain positive homogeneity (PH) assumption is imposed. It is then shown that assumption (PH) is practically satisfied only by power and logarithmic utility functions.

On the construction of low-parametric families of min-stable multivariate exponential distributions in large dimensions

German Bernhart, Jan-Frederik Mai, Matthias Scherer (2015)

Dependence Modeling

Min-stable multivariate exponential (MSMVE) distributions constitute an important family of distributions, among others due to their relation to extreme-value distributions. Being true multivariate exponential models, they also represent a natural choicewhen modeling default times in credit portfolios. Despite being well-studied on an abstract level, the number of known parametric families is small. Furthermore, for most families only implicit stochastic representations are known. The present paper...
