A Bogomolov property for curves modulo algebraic subgroups

Philipp Habegger (2009)

Bulletin de la Société Mathématique de France

Generalizing a result of Bombieri, Masser, and Zannier we show that on a curve in the algebraic torus which is not contained in any proper coset only finitely many points are close to an algebraic subgroup of codimension at least 2 . The notion of close is defined using the Weil height. We also deduce some cardinality bounds and further finiteness statements.

A note on the ramification of torsion points lying on curves of genus at least two

Damian Rössler (2010)

Journal de Théorie des Nombres de Bordeaux

Let C be a curve of genus g 2 defined over the fraction field K of a complete discrete valuation ring R with algebraically closed residue field. Suppose that char ( K ) = 0 and that the characteristic p of the residue field is not 2 . Suppose that the Jacobian Jac ( C ) has semi-stable reduction over R . Embed C in Jac ( C ) using a K -rational point. We show that the coordinates of the torsion points lying on C lie in the unique tamely ramified quadratic extension of the field generated over K by the coordinates of the p -torsion...

An annihilator for the p -Selmer group by means of Heegner points

Massimo Bertolini (1994)

Atti della Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. Classe di Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali. Rendiconti Lincei. Matematica e Applicazioni

Let E / Q be a modular elliptic curve, and let K be an imaginary quadratic field. We show that the p -Selmer group of E over certain finite anticyclotomic extensions of K , modulo the universal norms, is annihilated by the «characteristic ideal» of the universal norms modulo the Heegner points. We also extend this result to the anticyclotomic Z p -extension of K . This refines in the current contest a result of [1].

Analogs of Δ(z) for triangular Shimura curves

Shujuan Ji (1998)

Acta Arithmetica

We construct analogs of the classical Δ-function for quotients of the upper half plane 𝓗 by certain arithmetic triangle groups Γ coming from quaternion division algebras B. We also establish a relative integrality result concerning modular functions of the form Δ(αz)/Δ(z) for α in B⁺. We give two explicit examples at the end.
