Homogenization of the compressible Navier–Stokes equations in a porous medium

Nader Masmoudi (2010)

ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations

We study the homogenization of the compressible Navier–Stokes system in a periodic porous medium (of period ε) with Dirichlet boundary conditions. At the limit, we recover different systems depending on the scaling we take. In particular, we rigorously derive the so-called “porous medium equation”.

Homogenized double porosity models for poro-elastic media with interfacial flow barrier

Abdelhamid Ainouz (2011)

Mathematica Bohemica

In the paper a Barenblatt-Biot consolidation model for flows in periodic porous elastic media is derived by means of the two-scale convergence technique. Starting with the fluid flow of a slightly compressible viscous fluid through a two-component poro-elastic medium separated by a periodic interfacial barrier, described by the Biot model of consolidation with the Deresiewicz-Skalak interface boundary condition and assuming that the period is too small compared with the size of the medium, the limiting...

Multiscale stochastic homogenization of convection-diffusion equations

Nils Svanstedt (2008)

Applications of Mathematics

Multiscale stochastic homogenization is studied for convection-diffusion problems. More specifically, we consider the asymptotic behaviour of a sequence of realizations of the form u ε ω / t + 1 / ϵ 3 𝒞 T 3 ( x / ε 3 ) ω 3 · u ε ω - div α T 1 ( x / ε 1 ) ω 1 , T 2 ( x / ε 2 ) ω 2 , t u ε ω = f . It is shown, under certain structure assumptions on the random vector field 𝒞 ( ω 3 ) and the random map α ( ω 1 , ω 2 , t ) , that the sequence { u ϵ ω } of solutions converges in the sense of G-convergence of parabolic operators to the solution u of the homogenized problem u / t - div ( ( t ) u ) = f .

Numerical homogenization of well singularities in the flow transport through heterogeneous porous media: fully discrete scheme

Meiqun Jiang, Xingye Yue (2007)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis

Motivated by well-driven flow transport in porous media, Chen and Yue proposed a numerical homogenization method for Green function [Multiscale Model. Simul.1 (2003) 260–303]. In that paper, the authors focused on the well pore pressure, so the local error analysis in maximum norm was presented. As a continuation, we will consider a fully discrete scheme and its multiscale error analysis on the velocity field.
