Further investigations have been carried out on Friedel-Crafts alkylation of naphthalene and 1-methylnaphthalene by using 4-methyl-3-pentenoic acid or its isomer isocaprolactone. New products, resulting by the introduction of two chains into the naphthalene nucleus, have thus been synthetized. The X-ray analysis of one of these compounds is reported.
