Abstract

In this paper two molars of a glirid found in the Lower Villafranchian layer of Su Casteddu (Nuoro, Sardinia) are described. The molars belong to the genus Hypnomys Bate, which is known only for the Plio-Pleistocene of the Balearic Islands. Hypnomys is the third genus of Pleistocène balearic mammalian fauna found in Sardinia. The other two are Nesiotites, a soricid known also in the Sardo-Corso massif and Myotragus, a rupicaprine very similar to «Antilope» melonii of Capo Figari. (NE Sardinia).
