Abstract

In this work we deal with the problem of finding the rototranslation and the scale factor between two frames of reference (r) and (R), when only a part of the coordinates of a certain number of points r of (r) are known in (R). The exact normal system is set up by means of quaternion algebra and then reduced to a non linear eigenvalue equation. This equation is interpreted and its properties are studied in the last paragraph of the paper.
