Abstract

The structural features of the S. Giorgio Jonico Cretaceous Horst, near Taranto, are described for the first time. The bordering faults of this structure, extending NW-SE or NNW-SSE, are evident on the SE flank, where some quarries cut the calcareous-dolomitic formation. Calabrian sediments pinched in the fractures prove that faults are due to displacement which occurred also during the Pleistocene.
