top
The current use of information and communication techniques (ICT) in every social area demands the measure of its economic and social impact and of the degree of achievement of the information society. An analysis of the most recent reports and papers dealing with the incidence of this reality on the statistical methodology and of the improvements and changes carried out in the leading countries is conducted. As the economic activities classifications currently employed is concerned, a specific mention is made to the update that they need. Finally the attemps to create a set of indicators that present and help to understand these new phenomenon, specially those carried out at the Catalan institute of statistics (Idescat) are presented.
