The activity and localization of the mitoses in the retina of an adult Teleost (Carassius auratus) was checked at various periods after the removal of a quarter of neural retina. The restitutive processes begin with the rise of the mitotic activity which reaches the maximum about the end of the first month (20th~30th day) andthen decreases, becoming very low at the end of the second month.
