Effetti dell'ablazione della regione caudale sulla migrazione dei gonociti nelle creste genitali in embrioni e larve di Bufo bufo
In young embryos of Bufo bufo toad some germ cells are localized in the most dorso-caudal part of the endodermic mass. The ablation of this part produces a reduction of the number of germ cells migrating in the genital ridges, and a reduction of the length of genital bodies and mesonephros. By multiplication of residual germ cells, genital ridges subsequently differentiate, as in normal specimens, a Bidder organ in their cephalic tract and a reduced gonad in their caudal tract.
