Rendiconti

For several years the Authors have found that the skin-photosensitizing furocoumarins photoreact with the nucleic acids, especially with native DNA, by irradiation at 365 nm. The studies of these photoreactions revealed that a C-cyclo-addition reaction takes place between pyrimidine bases and furocoumarins. Pyrimidine bases photoreact always with their 5,6—double bond, while furocoumarins can covalently bind engaging either their 4', 5' or their 3,4-double bond or both the 4', 5'- and 3,4-double...
