A new approach for estimating the friction in thin film lubrication.
In this paper we study bounds for the off-diagonal elements of the homogenized tensor for the stationary heat conduction problem. We also state that these bounds are sharp by proving a formula for the homogenized tensor in the case of laminate structures.
We consider applications, illustration and concrete numerical treatments of some homogenization results on Stokes flow in porous media. In particular, we compute the global permeability tensor corresponding to an unidirectional array of circular fibers for several volume-fractions. A 3-dimensional problem is also considered.
We consider iteration of arithmetic and power means and discuss methods for determining their limit. These means appear naturally in connection with some problems in homogenization theory.
We present a general numerical method for calculating effective elastic properties of periodic structures based on the homogenization method. Some concrete numerical examples are presented.
