On a general coarea inequality and applications.
We obtain a blow-up theorem for regular submanifolds in the Heisenberg group, where intrinsic dilations are used. Main consequence of this result is an explicit formula for the density of (p+1)-dimensional spherical Hausdorff measure restricted to a p-dimensional submanifold with respect to the Riemannian surface measure. We explicitly compute this formula in some simple examples and we present a lower semicontinuity result for the spherical Hausdorff measure with respect to the weak convergence...
We present an area formula for continuous mappings between metric spaces, under minimal regularity assumptions. In particular, we do not require any notion of differentiability. This is a consequence of a measure-theoretic notion of Jacobian, defined as the density of a suitable "pull-back measure". Finally, we give some applications and examples.
In the geometries of stratified groups, we provide differentiability theorems for both functions of bounded variation and Sobolev functions. Proofs are based on a systematic application of the Sobolev-Poincaré inequality and the so-called representation formula.
We show a first nontrivial example of coarea formula for vector-valued Lipschitz maps defined on the three dimensional Heisenberg group. In this coarea formula, integration on level sets is performed with respect to the 2-dimensional spherical Hausdorff measure, built by the Carnot-Carathéodory distance. The standard jacobian is replaced by the so called horizontal jacobian, corresponding to the jacobian of the Pansu differential of the Lipschitz map. Joining previous results, we achieve all possible...
We establish an explicit connection between the perimeter measure of an open set with boundary and the spherical Hausdorff measure restricted to , when the ambient space is a stratified group endowed with a left invariant sub-Riemannian metric and denotes the Hausdorff dimension of the group. Our formula implies that the perimeter measure of is less than or equal to up to a dimensional factor. The validity of this estimate positively answers a conjecture raised by Danielli, Garofalo...
