We characterize some isomorphic properties of Banach spaces in terms of the set of norm attaining functionals. The main result states that a Banach space is reflexive as soon as it does not contain ℓ₁ and the dual unit ball is the w*-closure of the convex hull of elements contained in the "uniform" interior of the set of norm attaining functionals. By assuming a very weak isometric condition (lack of roughness) instead of not containing ℓ₁, we also obtain a similar result. As a consequence of the...
In this paper, the problem of inference with misclassified multinomial data is addressed. Over the last years there has been a significant upsurge of interest in the development of Bayesian methods to make inferences with misclassified data. The wide range of applications for several sampling schemes and the importance of including initial information make Bayesian analysis an essential tool to be used in this context. A review of the existing literature followed by a methodological discussion is...
In this paper we get some relations between the boundary point spectrum of the generator A of a C-semigroup and the generator A* of the dual semigroup. This relations combined with the results due to Lyubich-Phong and Arendt-Batty, yield stability results on positive C-semigroups.
