Sublinear elliptic equations in Rn.
We study the behaviour of the solutions of the Cauchy problem and prove that if initial data decay fast enough at infinity then the solution of the Cauchy problem approaches the travelling wave solution spreading either to the right or to the left, or two travelling waves moving in opposite directions. Certain generalizations are also mentioned.
The well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for a class of parabolic equations with variable density is investigated. Necessary and sufficient conditions for existence and uniqueness in the class of bounded solutions are proved. If these conditions fail, sufficient conditions are given to ensure well-posedness in the class of bounded solutions which satisfy suitable constraints at infinity.
The Beltrami framework for image processing and analysis introduces a non-linear parabolic problem, called in this context the Beltrami flow. We study in the framework for functions of bounded variation, the well-posedness of the Beltrami flow in the one-dimensional case. We prove existence and uniqueness of the weak solution using lower semi-continuity results for convex functions of measures. The solution is defined via a variational inequality, following Temam?s technique for the evolution problem...
