The alkaloid composition of Tabernaemontana sananho, a plant used in Perù in folk medicine, has shown the presence of coronaridin, ibogamin, 19-hydroxycoronaridin, 20-hydroxycoronaridin (heyneanine) and voacangine. The finding of 19-hydroxycoronaridin, which, during extraction rapidly undergoes to chemical changes, indicates that this alkaloid may be found in other species of Tabernaemontana when appropriate techniques are used.
