Tangent segments in Minkowski planes.
An ellipse in R can be defined as the locus of points for which the sum of the Euclidean distances from the two foci is constant. In this paper we will look at the sets that are obtained by considering in the above definition distances induced by arbitrary norms.
We show that any convex Jordan curve in a normed plane admits an inscribed Minkowskian square. In addition we prove that no two different Minkowskian rhombi with the same direction of one diagonal can be inscribed in the same strictly convex Jordan curve.
