The Poisson integral for a ball in spaces of constant curvature

Eleutherius Symeonidis (2003)

Commentationes Mathematicae Universitatis Carolinae

Similarity:

We present explicit expressions of the Poisson kernels for geodesic balls in the higher dimensional spheres and real hyperbolic spaces. As a consequence, the Dirichlet problem for the projective space is explicitly solved. Comparison of different expressions for the same Poisson kernel lead to interesting identities concerning special functions.

Classification into two von Mises distributions with unknown mean directions

Kryštof Eben (1983)

Aplikace matematiky

Similarity:

The paper deals with two Mises distributions on the circle with unknown mean directions and a common concentration parameter that is known. The likelihood rule and the plug-in rule are examined. For the statistic of the plug-in rule, the moment generating function is given and a method of obtaining the moments is proposed.
