A Note on Additive Groups of Some Specific Associative Rings

Mateusz Woronowicz (2016)

Annales Mathematicae Silesianae

Similarity:

Almost complete description of abelian groups (A, +, 0) such that every associative ring R with the additive group A satisfies the condition: every subgroup of A is an ideal of R, is given. Some new results for SR-groups in the case of associative rings are also achieved. The characterization of abelian torsion-free groups of rank one and their direct sums which are not nil-groups is complemented using only elementary methods.

Identifying and distinguishing various varieties of abelian topological groups

Carolyn E. McPhail, Sidney A. Morris

Similarity:

A variety of topological groups is a class of (not necessarily Hausdorff) topological groups closed under the operations of forming subgroups, quotient groups and arbitrary products. The variety of topological groups generated by a class of topological groups is the smallest variety containing the class. In this paper methods are presented to distinguish a number of significant varieties of abelian topological groups, including the varieties generated by (i) the class of all locally...
