The convergence of the finite element solution for the second order elliptic problem in the $n$ -dimensional bounded domain $(n \geq 2)$ with the Newton boundary condition is analysed. The simplicial isoparametric elements are used. The error estimates in both the $H^{1}$ and $L_{2}$ norms are obtained.

The present paper deals with solving the general biharmonic problem by the finite element method using curved triangular finit $C^{1}$ -elements introduced by Ženíšek. The effect of numerical integration is analysed in the case of mixed boundary conditions and sufficient conditions for the uniform $V_{O h}$ -ellipticity are found.

Using the stream function, some finite element subspaces of divergence-free vector functions, the normal components of which vanish on a part of the piecewise smooth boundary, are constructed. Applying these subspaces, an internal approximation of the dual problem for second order elliptic equations is defined.
