Domain Decomposition Algorithms for Time-Harmonic Maxwell Equations with Damping

Ana Alonso Rodriguez, Alberto Valli (2010)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis

Similarity:

Three non-overlapping domain decomposition methods are proposed for the numerical approximation of time-harmonic Maxwell equations with damping (, in a conductor). For each method convergence is proved and, for the discrete problem, the rate of convergence of the iterative algorithm is shown to be independent of the number of degrees of freedom.

Mixed Methods for the Approximation of Liquid Crystal Flows

Chun Liu, Noel J. Walkington (2010)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis

Similarity:

The numerical solution of the flow of a liquid crystal governed by a particular instance of the Ericksen–Leslie equations is considered. Convergence results for this system rely crucially upon energy estimates which involve (Ω) norms of the director field. We show how a mixed method may be used to eliminate the need for Hermite finite elements and establish convergence of the method.
