Evolution in a changing environment: existence of solutions

P. Rybka, Q. Tang, D. Waxman (2003)

Colloquium Mathematicae

Similarity:

We establish the existence of solutions of an intrinsically nonlinear differential-integral equation that arises from the mathematical modelling of the evolution of an asexual population in a changing environment. The main objective is to pave the way for a rigorous analysis of the linear stability of travelling wave solutions of the corresponding problem.

Global stability of steady solutions for a model in virus dynamics

We consider a simple model for the immune system in which virus are able to undergo mutations and are in competition with leukocytes. These mutations are related to several other concepts which have been proposed in the literature like those of shape or of virulence – a continuous notion. For a given species, the system admits a globally attractive critical point. We prove that mutations do not affect this picture for small perturbations and under strong structural assumptions. Based...

A within-host dengue infection model with immune response and nonlinear incidence rate

Hajar Ansari, Mahmoud Hesaaraki (2013)

Applicationes Mathematicae

Similarity:

A model of viral infection of monocytes population by the dengue virus is formulated as a system of four ordinary differential equations. The model takes into account the immune response and nonlinear incidence rate of susceptible and free virus particles. Global stability of the uninfected steady state is investigated. Such a steady state always exists. If it is the only steady state, then it is globally asymptotically stable. If any infected steady state exists,...

Analysis of The Impact of Diabetes on The Dynamical Transmission of Tuberculosis

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global health problem. A possible risk factor for TB is diabetes (DM), which is predicted to increase dramatically over the next two decades, particularly in low and middle income countries, where TB is widespread. This study aimed to assess the strength of the association between TB and DM. We present a deterministic model for TB in a community in order to determine the impact of DM in the spread of the ...
