By a non-Euclidean crystallographic (N.E.C.) group we shall mean a discrete subgroup Γ of isometries of the non-Euclidean plane including those reverse orientation, reflections and glide-reflections. In [1] we computed the proper periods of normal N.E.C. subgroups of an N.E.C. group, when the index of the group with respect to the subgroup is odd. In this paper we shall compute the proper period of normal N.E.C. subgroups, when the index is even. The corresponding...

The major aim of the present paper is to strengthen a nice result of Shemetkov and Skiba which gives some conditions under which every non-Frattini G-chief factor of a normal subgroup E of a finite group G is cyclic. As applications, some recent known results are generalized and unified.

We give a classification of finite group actions on a surface giving rise to quotients, from the point of view of their fixed points. It is shown that except two cases, each such group gives rise to a unique type of fixed point set.
