Mathematics Subject Classification: Primary 47A60, 47D06. In this paper, we extend the theory of complex powers of operators to a class of operators in Banach spaces whose spectrum lies in C ]−∞, 0[ and whose resolvent satisfies an estimate ||(λ + A)(−1)|| ≤ (λ(−1) + λm) M for all λ > 0 and for some constants M > 0 and m ∈ R. This class of operators strictly contains the class of the non negative operators and the one of operators with polynomially bounded resolvent....

An Analog of the Tricomi Problem for a Mixed Type Equation with a Partial Fractional Derivative

Kilbas, Anatoly, Repin, Oleg (2010)

Fractional Calculus and Applied Analysis

Similarity:

Mathematics Subject Classification 2010: 35M10, 35R11, 26A33, 33C05, 33E12, 33C20. The paper deals with an analog of Tricomi boundary value problem for a partial differential equation of mixed type involving a diffusion equation with the Riemann-Liouville partial fractional derivative and a hyperbolic equation with two degenerate lines. By using the properties of the Gauss hypergeometric function and of the generalized fractional integrals and derivatives with such a function...

Inverse Problem for Fractional Diffusion Equation

Fractional Calculus and Applied Analysis

MSC 2010: 26A33, 33E12, 34K29, 34L15, 35K57, 35R30 We prove that by taking suitable initial distributions only finitely many measurements on the boundary are required to recover uniquely the diffusion coefficient of a one dimensional fractional diffusion equation. If a lower bound on the diffusion coefficient is known a priori then even only two measurements are sufficient. The technique is based on possibility of extracting the full boundary spectral data from special lateral...

Under natural regularity assumptions on the data the powers of regular elliptic boundary value problems (e.b.v.p.) are shown to be higher order regular e.b.v.p.. This result is used in description of the domains of fractional powers of elliptic operators which information is in order important in regularity considerations for solutions of semilinear parabolic equations. Presented approach allows to avoid C-smoothness assumption on the data that is typical in many references. ...

On a 3D-Hypersingular Equation of a Problem for a Crack

Samko, Stefan (2011)

Fractional Calculus and Applied Analysis

Similarity:

MSC 2010: 45DB05, 45E05, 78A45 We show that a certain axisymmetric hypersingular integral equation arising in problems of cracks in the elasticity theory may be explicitly solved in the case where the crack occupies a plane circle. We give three different forms of the resolving formula. Two of them involve regular kernels, while the third one involves a singular kernel, but requires less regularity assumptions on the the right-hand side of the equation.

Bounds for Fractional Powers of Operators in a Hilbert Space and Constants in Moment Inequalities

I. Gil’, Michael (2009)

Fractional Calculus and Applied Analysis

Similarity:

Mathematics Subject Classification: 47A56, 47A57,47A63 We derive bounds for the norms of the fractional powers of operators with compact Hermitian components, and operators having compact inverses in a separable Hilbert space. Moreover, for these operators, as well as for dissipative operators, the constants in the moment inequalities are established. * This research was supported by the Kamea Fund of Israel.

On a Class of Generalized Elliptic-type Integrals

The aim of this paper is to study a generalized form of elliptic-type integrals which unify and extend various families of elliptic-type integrals studied recently by several authors. In a recent communication [1] we have obtained recurrence relations and asymptotic formula for this generalized elliptic-type integral. Here we shall obtain some more results which are single and multiple integral formulae, differentiation formula, fractional integral and approximations for this class...
