We present in this paper a pressure correction scheme for the barotropic compressible Navier-Stokes equations, which enjoys an unconditional stability property, in the sense that the energy and maximum-principle-based estimates of the continuous problem also hold for the discrete solution. The stability proof is based on two independent results for general finite volume discretizations, both interesting for their own sake: the -stability of the discrete advection operator...

On a diphasic low Mach number system

We propose a Diphasic Low Mach Number (DLMN) system for the modelling of diphasic flows without phase change at low Mach number, system which is an extension of the system proposed by Majda in [Center of Pure and Applied Mathematics, Berkeley, report No. 112] and [Combust. Sci. Tech. 42 (1985) 185–205] for low Mach number combustion problems. This system is written for a priori any equations of state. Under minimal thermodynamic hypothesis which are satisfied by a large class of generalized...

Compressible two-phase flows by central and upwind schemes

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis - Modélisation Mathématique et Analyse Numérique

This paper concerns numerical methods for two-phase flows. The governing equations are the compressible 2-velocity, 2-pressure flow model. Pressure and velocity relaxation are included as source terms. Results obtained by a Godunov-type central scheme and a Roe-type upwind scheme are presented. Issues of preservation of pressure equilibrium, and positivity of the partial densities are addressed.
