Let X be a space with the homotopy type of a bouquet of k circles, and let f: X → X be a map. In certain cases, algebraic techniques can be used to calculate N(f), the Nielsen number of f, which is a homotopy invariant lower bound on the number of fixed points for maps homotopic to f. Given two fixed points of f, x and y, and their corresponding group elements, and , the fixed points are Nielsen equivalent if and only if there is a solution z ∈ π₁(X) to the equation . The Nielsen...

Let be a dg algebra over and let be a dg -bimodule. We show that under certain technical hypotheses on , a noncommutative analog of the Hodge-to-de Rham spectral sequence starts at the Hochschild homology of the derived tensor product and converges to the Hochschild homology of . We apply this result to bordered Heegaard Floer theory, giving spectral sequences associated to Heegaard Floer homology groups of certain branched and unbranched double covers.

We study the (bigraded) homology of the universal Steenrod algebra Q over the prime field ₂, and we compute the groups , s ≥ 0, using some ideas and techniques of Koszul algebras developed by S. Priddy in [5], although we presently do not know whether or not Q is a Koszul algebra. We also provide an explicit formula for the coalgebra structure of the diagonal homology and show that D⁎(Q) is isomorphic to the coalgebra of invariants Γ introduced by W. Singer in [6].

Let n be an integer with n ≥ 2 and be an infinite collection of (n-1)-connected continua. We compare the homotopy groups of with those of (Σ denotes the unreduced suspension) via the Freudenthal Suspension Theorem. An application to homology groups of the countable product of the n(≥ 2)-sphere is given.

We establish a Künneth formula for some chain complexes in the categories of Fréchet and Banach spaces. We consider a complex of Banach spaces and continuous boundary maps dₙ with closed ranges and prove that Hⁿ(’) ≅ Hₙ()’, where Hₙ()’ is the dual space of the homology group of and Hⁿ(’) is the cohomology group of the dual complex ’. A Künneth formula for chain complexes of nuclear Fréchet spaces and continuous boundary maps with closed ranges is also obtained. This enables us to describe...

In [7], M. Levin proved that the set of all Bing maps of a compact metric space to the unit interval is a dense -subset of the space of all maps. In [6], J. Krasinkiewicz independently proved that the set of all Bing maps of a compact metric space to an n-dimensional manifold (n ≥ 1) is a dense -subset of the space of maps. In [9], J. Song and E. D. Tymchatyn, solving some problems of J. Krasinkiewicz ([6]), proved that the set of all Bing maps of a compact metric space to a nondegenerate...
