Multiplicative maps from Hℤ to a ring spectrum R-a naive version

Stanisław Betley (2012)

Fundamenta Mathematicae

Similarity:

The paper is devoted to the study of the space of multiplicative maps from the Eilenberg-MacLane spectrum Hℤ to an arbitrary ring spectrum R. We try to generalize the approach of Schwede [Geom. Topol. 8 (2004)], where the case of a very special R was studied. In particular we propose a definition of a formal group law in any ring spectrum, which might be of independent interest.

Resolvent and spectrum of a nonselfadjoint differential operator in a Hilbert space

Michael Gil (2012)

Annales UMCS, Mathematica

Similarity:

We consider a second order regular differential operator whose coefficients are nonselfadjoint bounded operators acting in a Hilbert space. An estimate for the resolvent and a bound for the spectrum are established. An operator is said to be stable if its spectrum lies in the right half-plane. By the obtained bounds, stability and instability conditions are established.

Taylor Spectrum and Characteristic Functions of Commuting 2-Contractions

Bendoukha, Berrabah (2008)

Serdica Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 47A10, 47A13. In this paper, we give a description of Taylor spectrum of commuting 2-contractions in terms of characteritic functions of such contractions. The case of a single contraction obtained by B. Sz. Nagy and C. Foias is generalied in this work.

On the generalized Kato spectrum

Benharrat, Mohammed, Messirdi, Bekkai (2011)

Serdica Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

2010 Mathematics Subject Classification: 47A10. We show that the symmetric difference between the generalized Kato spectrum and the essential spectrum defined in [7] by sec(T) = {l О C ; R(lI-T) is not closed } is at most countable and we also give some relationship between this spectrum and the SVEP theory.

On the axiomatic theory of spectrum

V. Kordula, V. Müller (1996)

There are a number of spectra studied in the literature which do not fit into the axiomatic theory of Żelazko. This paper is an attempt to give an axiomatic theory for these spectra, which, apart from the usual types of spectra, like one-sided, approximate point or essential spectra, include also the local spectra, the Browder spectrum and various versions of the Apostol spectrum (studied under various names, e.g. regular, semiregular or essentially semiregular).
