Topological and approximation methods of degree theory of set-valued maps

Wojciech Kryszewski

Similarity:

SummaryThe theory of topological degree of set-valued maps determined by morphisms, i.e. maps with values which are continuous images of almost acyclic sets, is presented, together with some of its applications. In the first part, morphisms defined on finite-dimensional Euclidean manifolds are considered and the integer-valued degree is introduced by means of the Eilenberg-Montgomery-Górniewicz method based on the Vietoris-Begle-Sklyarenko theorem and using the approach of Dold in terms...

Automatic continuity of biseparating maps

Similarity:

We prove that a biseparating map between spaces of vector-valued continuous functions is usually automatically continuous. However, we also discuss special cases when this is not true.

Fixed Points of n-Valued Multimaps of the Circle

Robert F. Brown (2006)

Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Mathematics

Similarity:

A multifunction ϕ: X ⊸ Y is n-valued if ϕ(x) is an unordered subset of n points of Y for each x ∈ X. The (continuous) n-valued multimaps ϕ: S¹ ⊸ S¹ are classified up to homotopy by an integer-valued degree. In the Nielsen fixed point theory of such multimaps, due to Schirmer, the Nielsen number N(ϕ) of an n-valued ϕ: S¹ ⊸ S¹ of degree d equals |n - d| and ϕ is homotopic to an n-valued power map that has exactly |n - d| fixed points. Thus the Wecken property, that Schirmer established...

Multi-invertible maps and their applications

Mirosław Ślosarski (2019)

Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. Studia Mathematica

Similarity:

In this article, we define multi-invertible, multivalued maps. These mappings are a natural generalization of r-maps (in particular, the singlevalued invertible maps). They have many interesting properties and applications. In this article, the multi-invertible maps are applied to the construction of morphisms and to the theory of coincidence.

Coincidence theorems for set-valued maps with g-kkm property on generalized convex space

Similarity:

In this paper, a set-valued mapping with G-KKM property is defined and a generalization of minimax theorem for set-valued maps with G-KKM property on generalized convex space is established. As a consequence of this results we verify the coincidence theorem for set-valued maps with G-KKM property on G-convex space. Finally, we apply our results to the best approximation problem and fixed point problem.
