Comparison of uniformity decisions in DUS testing for full and reduced numbers of measurements

Wiesław Pilarczyk, Bogna Kowalczyk, Ewa Bakinowska (2015)

Biometrical Letters

Similarity:

It is investigated how a reduction in the number of measurements influences uniformity decisions in distinctness, uniformity and stability (DUS) testing. Using real data from DUS trials performed in Poland for several species, it is shown that when final decisions are taken after three years of testing, a reduction in the number of measurements by 50% of the numbers indicated in the Guidelines has very limited impact on decisions (rejection or approval of candidate variety). Decisions...

The relation between GxE interaction and the number of locations in series of oilseed rape trials

Wiesław Pilarczyk (2013)

Biometrical Letters

Similarity:

The problem of the selection of locations (experimental stations) for experiments on oilseed rape is considered. The results of 138 experiments conducted by the Research Centre for Cultivar Testing (COBORU) in the period 2006-2010 at 41 experimental stations form the basis for all considerations. The method applied earlier by Pilarczyk and Fraś (2007, 2010) for analysis of similar results concerning winter wheat was utilized here. However, because of the high degree of non-orthogonality...

On varieties of orgraphs

Alfonz Haviar, Gabriela Monoszová (2001)

Discussiones Mathematicae Graph Theory

Similarity:

In this paper we investigate varieties of orgraphs (that is, oriented graphs) as classes of orgraphs closed under isomorphic images, suborgraph identifications and induced suborgraphs, and we study the lattice of varieties of tournament-free orgraphs.

The dimension of a variety

Ewa Graczyńska, Dietmar Schweigert (2007)

Discussiones Mathematicae - General Algebra and Applications

Similarity:

Derived varieties were invented by P. Cohn in [4]. Derived varieties of a given type were invented by the authors in [10]. In the paper we deal with the derived variety V σ of a given variety, by a fixed hypersubstitution σ. We introduce the notion of the dimension of a variety as the cardinality κ of the set of all proper derived varieties of V included in V. We examine dimensions of some varieties in the lattice of all varieties of a given type τ. Dimensions of varieties of lattices...

Bihomogeneous forms in many variables

Damaris Schindler (2014)

Journal de Théorie des Nombres de Bordeaux

Similarity:

We count integer points on varieties given by bihomogeneous equations using the Hardy-Littlewood method. The main novelty lies in using the structure of bihomogeneous equations to obtain asymptotics in generically fewer variables than would be necessary in using the standard approach for homogeneous varieties. Also, we consider counting functions where not all the variables have to lie in intervals of the same size, which arises as a natural question in the setting of bihomogeneous varieties. ...
