An elementary proof of the decomposition of measures on the circle group

Przemysław Ohrysko (2015)

Colloquium Mathematicae

Similarity:

We give an elementary proof for the case of the circle group of the theorem of O. Hatori and E. Sato, which states that every measure on a compact abelian group G can be decomposed into a sum of two measures with a natural spectrum and a discrete measure.

On discrete Fourier spectrum of a harmonic with random frequency modulation

Waldemar Popiński (2013)

Applicationes Mathematicae

Similarity:

Asymptotic properties of the Discrete Fourier Transform spectrum of a complex monochromatic oscillation with frequency randomly distorted at the observation times t=0,1,..., n-1 by a series of independent and identically distributed fluctuations is investigated. It is proved that the second moments of the spectrum at the discrete Fourier frequencies converge uniformly to zero as n → ∞ for certain frequency fluctuation distributions. The observed effect occurs even for frequency fluctuations...

Some remarks on restriction of the Fourier tranform for general measures.

Similarity:

In this paper we establish a formal connection between the average decay of the Fourier transform of functions with respect to a given measure and the of that measure. We also present a generalization of the classical restriction theorem of Stein and Tomas replacing the sphere with sets of prefixed Hausdorff dimension n - 1 + α, with 0 < α < 1.
