Construction of fluxes at junctions for the numerical solution of traffic flow models on networks

Vacek, Lukáš, Kučera, Václav

Similarity:

We deal with the simulation of traffic flow on networks. On individual roads we use standard macroscopic traffic models. The discontinuous Galerkin method in space and explicit Euler method in time is used for the numerical solution. We apply limiters to keep the density in an admissible interval as well as prevent spurious oscillations in the numerical solution. To solve traffic networks, we construct suitable numerical fluxes at junctions. Numerical experiments are presented. ...

An efficient implementation of the semi-implicit discontinuous Galerkin method for compressible flow simulation

Dolejší, Vít

Similarity:

We deal with a numerical simulation of the inviscid compressible flow with the aid of the combination of the discontinuous Galerkin method (DGM) and backward difference formulae. We recall the mentioned numerical scheme and discuss implementation aspects of DGM, particularly a choice of basis functions and numerical quadratures for integrations. An illustrative numerical example is presented.

A numerical study of non-cavitating and cavitating liquid flow around a hydrofoil

Similarity:

The results of a workshop concerning the numerical simulation of the liquid flow around a hydrofoil in non-cavitating and cavitating conditions are presented. This workshop was part of the conference “Mathematical and Numerical aspects of Low Mach Number Flows” (2004) and was aimed to investigate the capabilities of different compressible flow solvers for the low Mach number regime and for flows in which incompressible and supersonic regions are simultaneously present. Different physical...

Involutive formulation and simulation for electroneutral microfluids

Bijan Mohammadi, Jukka Tuomela (2011)

ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis - Modélisation Mathématique et Analyse Numérique

Similarity:

We study a microfluidic flow model where the movement of several charged species is coupled with electric field and the motion of ambient fluid. The main numerical difficulty in this model is the net charge neutrality assumption which makes the system essentially overdetermined. Hence we propose to use the involutive and the associated augmented form of the system in numerical computations. Numerical experiments on electrophoresis and stacking show that the completed system significantly...
