A branch hash function as a method of message synchronization in anonymous P2P conversations

Anna Kobusińska, Jerzy Brzeziński, Michał Boroń, Łukasz Inatlewski, Michał Jabczyński, Mateusz Maciejewski (2016)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

Currently existing solutions rarely protect message integrity, authenticity and user anonymity without burdening the user with details of key management. To address this problem, we present Aldeon-a protocol for anonymous group conversations in a peer-to-peer system. The efficiency of Aldeon is based on a novel tree synchronization algorithm, which is proposed and discussed in this paper. By using this algorithm, a significant reduction in the number of exchanged messages is achieved....

The color-balanced spanning tree problem

Štefan Berežný, Vladimír Lacko (2005)

Kybernetika

Similarity:

Suppose a graph G = ( V , E ) whose edges are partitioned into p disjoint categories (colors) is given. In the color-balanced spanning tree problem a spanning tree is looked for that minimizes the variability in the number of edges from different categories. We show that polynomiality of this problem depends on the number p of categories and present some polynomial algorithm.

Branch and Cut based on the volume algorithm: Steiner trees in graphs and Max-cut

Francisco Barahona, László Ladányi (2006)

RAIRO - Operations Research

Similarity:

We present a Branch-and-Cut algorithm where the volume algorithm is applied instead of the traditionally used dual simplex algorithm to the linear programming relaxations in the root node of the search tree. This means that we use fast approximate solutions to these linear programs instead of exact but slower solutions. We present computational results with the Steiner tree and Max-Cut problems. We show evidence that one can solve these problems much faster with the volume algorithm...

Tree based models and algorithms for the preemptive asymmetric Stacker Crane problem

Hervé Kerivin, Mathieu Lacroix, Alain Quilliot, Hélène Toussaint (2011)

RAIRO - Operations Research

Similarity:

In this paper we deal with the preemptive asymmetric stacker crane problem in a heuristic way. We first present some theoretical results which allow us to turn this problem into a specific tree design problem. We next derive from this new representation an integer linear programming model together with simple and efficient greedy and local search heuristics. We conclude by presenting experimental results which aim at both testing the efficiency of our heuristic and evaluating the impact...
