On the continuity of Bessel potentials in Orlicz spaces.

N. Aïssaoui (1996)

Collectanea Mathematica

Similarity:

It is shown that Bessel capacities in reflexive Orlicz spaces are non increasing under orthogonal projection of sets. This is used to get a continuity of potentials on some subspaces. The obtained results generalize those of Meyers and Reshetnyak in the case of Lebesgue classes.

Bessel potentials in Orlicz spaces.

N. Aïssaoui (1997)

Revista Matemática de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid

Similarity:

It is shown that Bessel potentials have a representation in term of measure when the underlying space is Orlicz. A comparison between capacities and Lebesgue measure is given and geometric properties of Bessel capacities in this space are studied. Moreover it is shown that if the capacity of a set is null, then the variation of all signed measures of this set is null when these measures are in the dual of an Orlicz-Sobolev space.

Smoothness in Musielak-Orlicz spaces equipped with the Orlicz norm.

Collectanea Mathematica

Similarity:

A formula for the distance of an arbitrary element x in Musielak-Orlicz space L^Phi from the subspace E^Phi of order continuous elements is given for both (the Luxemburg and the Orlicz) norms. A formula for the norm in the dual space of L^Phi is given for any of these two norms. Criteria for smooth points and smoothness in L^Phi and E^Phi equipped with the Orlicz norm are presented.

A characterization of Orlicz spaces isometric to Lp-spaces.

Similarity:

In this note we present an affirmative answer to the problem posed by M. Baronti and C. Franchetti (oral communication) concerning a characterization of Lp-spaces among Orlicz sequence spaces. In fact, we show a more general characterization of Orlicz spaces isometric to Lp-spaces.

Order continuous seminorms and weak compactness in Orlicz spaces.

Similarity:

Let L-phi be an Orlicz space defined by a Young function phi over a sigma-finite measure space, and let phi* denote the complementary function in the sense of Young. We give a characterization of the Mackey topology tau(L*,L-phi*) in terms of some family of norms defined by some regular Young functions. Next we describe order continuous (=absolutely continuous) Riesz seminorms on L-phi, and obtain a criterion for relative sigma(L-phi,L-phi*)-compactness in L-phi. As an application we...

Capacitary type estimates in strongly nonlinear potential theory and applications.

Noureddine Aissaoui (2001)

Revista Matemática Complutense

Similarity:

In this article a general result on smooth truncation of Riesz and Bessel potentials in Orlicz-Sobolev spaces is given and a capacitary type estimate is presented. We construct also a space of quasicontinuous functions and an alternative characterization of this space and a description of its dual are established. For the Riesz kernel R, we prove that operators of strong type (A, A), are also of capacitaries strong and weak types (m,A).
