Sinclair and Tullo [6] proved that noetherian Banach algebras are finite-dimensional. In [3], Grabiner studied noetherian Banach modules. In this paper, we are concerned with alternative noetherian Banach algebras. Combining techniques from [3] with techniques and the result from [6], we prove that every alternative noetherian Banach algebra is finite-dimensional.

Sets of constant width appear as a curiosity in the context of finite-dimensional Euclidean spaces. These sets are convex bodies of such an space with the property that the distance between any two distinct parallel supporting hyperplanes is constant. The easiest example of a set of constant width which is not a ball is the so called Reuleaux triangle in the Euclidean plane. This is the intersection of three closed discs of radius r, whose centers are the vertices of an equilateral triangle...

Let A be a semisimple Banach algebra with a linear automorphism σ and let δ: I → A be a σ-derivation, where I is an ideal of A. Then Φ(δ)(I ∩ σ(I)) = 0, where Φ(δ) is the separating space of δ. As a consequence, if I is an essential ideal then the σ-derivation δ is closable. In a prime C*-algebra, we show that every σ-derivation defined on a nonzero ideal is continuous. Finally, any linear map on a prime semisimple Banach algebra with nontrivial idempotents is continuous if it satisfies...
