A Characterization Theorem for the K-functional Associated with the Algebraic Version of Trigonometric Jackson Integrals

Zapryanova, T. (2006)

Serdica Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 41A25, 41A36. The purpose of this paper is to present a characterization of a certain Peetre K-functional in Lp[−1,1] norm, for 1 ≤ p ≤ 2 by means of a modulus of smoothness. This modulus is based on the classical one taken on a certain linear transform of the function.

Reasoning Methods for Designing and Surveying Relationships Described by Sets of Functional Constraints

Demetrovics, János, Molnár, András, Thalheim, Bernhard (2009)

Serdica Journal of Computing

Similarity:

This work is supported by the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund (OTKA), grant T042706. Current methods of database schema design are usually based on modeling the real world as entity (or object) classes with relationships among them. Properties of relationships can be described by semantical database constraints. One of them is functional dependency, which has a key role in traditional database design. The three basic types of binary relationships that can be described...

Two centuries of the term "algebraic analysis"

Danuta Przeworska-Rolewicz (2000)

Banach Center Publications

Similarity:

The term "Algebraic Analysis" in the last two decades is used in two completely different senses. It seems that at least one is far away from its historical roots. Thus, in order to explain this misunderstanding, the history of this term from its origins is recalled.

Determinant criteria of solvability

V. S. Kalnitsky (2013)

Banach Center Publications

Similarity:

In the paper [3] the determinant criterion of solvability for the Kuczma equation [4] was given. This criterion appeared in the natural way as barycenter of some mass system. It turned out that determinants do appear in many different situations as solvability criteria. The present article is aimed to review the mostly classical results in the theory of functional equations from this point of view. We begin with classical results of the linear functional equations and the determinant...

A learning algorithm combining functional discriminant coordinates and functional principal components

Tomasz Górecki, Mirosław Krzyśko (2014)

Discussiones Mathematicae Probability and Statistics

Similarity:

A new type of discriminant space for functional data is presented, combining the advantages of a functional discriminant coordinate space and a functional principal component space. In order to provide a comprehensive comparison, we conducted a set of experiments, testing effectiveness on 35 functional data sets (time series). Experiments show that constructed combined space provides a higher quality of classification of LDA method compared with component spaces.
