Square groups are gadgets classifying quadratic endofunctors of the category of groups. Applying such a functor to the Kan simplicial loop group of the 2-dimensional sphere, one obtains a one-connected three-type. We consider the problem of characterization of those three-types X which can be obtained in this way. We solve this problem in some cases, including the case when π(X) is a finitely generated abelian group. The corresponding stable problem is solved completely.

The aim for the present paper is to study the theory of P-localization of a group in a category C such that it contains the category of the nilpotent groups as a full sub-category. In the second section we present a number of results on P-localization of a group G, which is the semi-direct product of an abelian group A with a group X, in the category G of all groups. It turns out that the P-localized (G) is completely described by the P-localized X of X, A and the action w of X on A....

We prove that the bicrossed product of two groups is a quotient of the pushout of two semidirect products. A matched pair of groups (H;G; α; β) is deformed using a combinatorial datum (σ; v; r) consisting of an automorphism σ of H, a permutation v of the set G and a transition map r: G → H in order to obtain a new matched pair (H; (G; *); α′, β′) such that there exists a σ-invariant isomorphism of groups H α⋈β G ≅H α′⋈β′ (G, *). Moreover, if we fix the group H and the automorphism σ...

Infine,...

Complexes of groups over ordered simplicial complexes are generalizations to higher dimensions of graphs of groups. We first relate them to complexes of spaces by considering their classifying space . Then we develop their homological algebra aspects. We define the notions of homology and cohomology of a complex of groups with coefficients in a -module and show the existence of free resolutions. We apply those notions to study extensions of complexes of groups with constant or...
