Reductions and conservation laws for BBM and modified BBM equations

Maryam Khorshidi, Mehdi Nadjafikhah, Hossein Jafari, Maysaa Al Qurashi (2016)

Open Mathematics

Similarity:

In this paper, the classical Lie theory is applied to study the Benjamin-Bona-Mahony (BBM) and modified Benjamin-Bona-Mahony equations (MBBM) to obtain their symmetries, invariant solutions, symmetry reductions and differential invariants. By observation of the the adjoint representation of Mentioned symmetry groups on their Lie algebras, we find the primary classification (optimal system) of their group-invariant solutions which provides new exact solutions to BBM and MBBM equations....

Poisson-Lie groupoids and the contraction procedure

Kenny De Commer (2015)

Banach Center Publications

Similarity:

On the level of Lie algebras, the contraction procedure is a method to create a new Lie algebra from a given Lie algebra by rescaling generators and letting the scaling parameter tend to zero. One of the most well-known examples is the contraction from 𝔰𝔲(2) to 𝔢(2), the Lie algebra of upper-triangular matrices with zero trace and purely imaginary diagonal. In this paper, we will consider an extension of this contraction by taking also into consideration the natural bialgebra structures...

The moving frames for differential equations. I. The change of independent variable

Václav Tryhuk, Oldřich Dlouhý (2003)

Archivum Mathematicum

Similarity:

The article concerns the symmetries of differential equations with short digressions to the underdetermined case and the relevant differential equations with delay. It may be regarded as an introduction into the method of moving frames relieved of the geometrical aspects: the stress is made on the technique of calculations employing only the most fundamental properties of differential forms. The present Part I is devoted to a single ordinary differential equation subjected to the change...
