An application of the Fourier transform to optimization of continuous 2-D systems

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

This paper uses the theory of entire functions to study the linear quadratic optimization problem for a class of continuous 2D systems. We show that in some cases optimal control can be given by an analytical formula. A simple method is also proposed to find an approximate solution with preassigned accuracy. Some application to the 1D optimization problem is presented, too. The obtained results form a theoretical background for the design problem of optimal controllers for relevant processes. ...

On the existence and the stability of solutions for higher-order semilinear Dirichlet problems

Marek Galewski, M. Płócienniczak (2007)

Czechoslovak Mathematical Journal

Similarity:

We investigate the existence and stability of solutions for higher-order two-point boundary value problems in case the differential operator is not necessarily positive definite, i.e. with superlinear nonlinearities. We write an abstract realization of the Dirichlet problem and provide abstract existence and stability results which are further applied to concrete problems.

Optimization problems with convex epigraphs. Application to optimal control

Arkadii Kryazhimskii (2001)

International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science

Similarity:

For a class of infinite-dimensional minimization problems with nonlinear equality constraints, an iterative algorithm for finding global solutions is suggested. A key assumption is the convexity of the ''epigraph'', a set in the product of the image spaces of the constraint and objective functions. A convexification method involving randomization is used. The algorithm is based on the extremal shift control principle due to N.N. Krasovskii. An application to a problem of optimal control...
